Who is Weir's Lane?

Our Story

Thank you for wanting to know more about who we are.  Kevin & Abigail started as an operating farm on the outskirts of Dundas in 2009. We had moved to the area given Abigail's job at McMaster University. We had 10 acres and a house that inspired us as we felt like we had a piece of Tuscany in Canada. Kevin, a former software business specialist pivoted his day job to one that was spending a lot of time outside, planting, mowing, weeding, and then some.

We grew lavender, started growing hazelnuts, and kept bees, instilling in us a lasting commitment to sustainable practices and the unique products of the apiary. We worked with the Conservation Authority to create a native wildflower garden, and we were part of the team that created Farm Crawl Hamilton.

In addition to working the fields and spending lots of time telling our story to those who visited, we made product that we sold at our farm store and online.

In 2016, Abigail was offered an opportunity at the University of Melbourne (the one in Australia) and, thus, started the journey of living in two countries. Kevin spent most of his time in Canada and Abigail most of her time in Australia.

By 2018, we realized that trying to run a farm while living on two continents was very difficult. Thus, we sold the farm. Today, we focus exclusively on small-batch manufacturing of high-quality products. We now operate a dedicated retail and manufacturing shop in the heart of Dundas, where we craft and sell our products, ensuring every batch meets the highest standard.

In addition to making and selling products for Weir's Lane, we have expanded to include making products for other businesses (under the name of Dilly Dilly Essentials).

We can be found at 105 King Street West, Dundas, Ontario.

40-50 minutes west of Toronto.

Weir's Lane Commitment

Quality, small-batch craftsmanship is at the heart of Weir's Lane.

While we no longer grow lavender, we are absolutely meticulous in sourcing. We partner directly with family-run farms in Ontario and France to guarantee the lavender is pesticide-free and of the highest quality.

Why does our name include "Apiary"? It is a heartfelt tribute to our farming origins and the vital role of the bee. We honour this connection by offering specialty bee-related products (like beeswax candles, honey, and our honey & sugar scrub), and sourcing all bee-related materials from trusted local beekeepers and candlemakers.

We craft a comprehensive range of products harnessing the best therapeutic and aromatic properties of lavender. To ensure you get the perfect benefit, we clearly distinguish between the two core varieties we use: English Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia) and French Lavender (Lavandula Intermedia).

English Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia): Softer scent, primarily used for its therapeutic properties (relaxation, sleep, soothing minor skin irritations) and culinary use.

French Lavender (Lavandula Intermedia or Lavandin): Sharper, slightly camphorous scent, primarily used for its aromatic properties and is excellent for cleaning products, room sprays, and sachets
